Tempo Park, Citrus Heights

Waiver and Sign-up required.

Welcome to the new Friday Walks returning after an 18 month health recess. With the return are a few new Rules:
You MUST sign an Electronic Liability Waiver in advance for Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks. This is a permanent change required by CNPS statewide. Note that this Waiver is for Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks only and does not cover Sacramento Valley CNPS Field Trips nor any Events or Field Trips offered by other CNPS Chapters. The only difference with the Sacramento Valley CNPS Friday Walks Liability Waiver is that once signed it is valid through the end of the current calendar year.  Email John Schmidt to receive a Waiver form.
For now the Friday Walks will also have a limit on the number of participants. The limit is 20 attendees plus 1 leader. Only 3 new to Friday Walks attendees can sign up for each walk. If your name appears on a sign in sheet after January 1, 2013 you are not considered a new attendee.

Walks held unless there is heavy rain, extreme heat or very poor air quality. Cancellation notices posted by 7 PM Thursday evening if the forecast is unfavorable.

Friday, March 22, 9:30am – 12:00pm. Tempo Park, City of Citrus Heights

Join us for a walk starting at Tempo Park in Citrus Heights and walking east along Sundance Park and then walking about 3 blocks on Highwood Way and Woodmore Oak Dr. passing a 7-Eleven then continuing northeast to to C-Bar Park before turning around.  This walk is being done to identify the plants, especially native plants found along this paved trail system.  There is not a plant list for this walk.  We will be making this as we go along.  Our plant listed will be used by the Citrus Heights Park Department.  The current forecast is for a sunny Friday.  More details will be added throughout the week. For more information, email John Schmidt or phone 916-500-8456.

Parking is free.  There are restrooms at Tempo Park and will check if there are rest facilities at C-Bar-C Park.

Bring water, hat, snack, and layered protection for rain and sun.  A walking stick shouldn’t be needed.

Meet near the Red Teardrop on the linked map for the location of Tempo Park.  Zoom in on the linked map to see the park entrance along Fair Oaks Blvd.  It’s about 7 blocks north of Greenback Ave.

If driving from south of Tempo Park on Fair Oaks Blvd, the entrance to the park is just before a pair of tennis courts on your left.
If driving from north of Tempo Park on Fair Oaks Blvd, the entrance to the park is just after a pair of tennis courts on your right.

Detailed driving directions from various locations will not be provided since it is assumed most participants know about where Sunrise Mall is and have their own preferred driving route to Sunrise Mall.  Tempo Park is not close to any freeway.

Please try to be on time.  We’ll start walking about 9:45am.
