FIELD BOTANIST POSITION AVAILABLE

 January - August 2009 (with extension possible) 

One or two botanists are sought to conduct plant community sampling at locations all over California as part of an NSF-funded study of patterns in plant diversity.  Applicants should have a good to excellent knowledge of the non-desert California flora, e.g. able to sight-identify most families and many genera and key out species.  Applicants should be willing to travel frequently during spring and summer using their own vehicles; work alone at times; hike to remote locations; and camp.  GIS, GPS, and database skills are desirable but not required. Mileage and expenses will be reimbursed. Salary will depend on qualifications.
